I'd rather have emulators and a good computer than paying big corporations money for some shit I already owned previously just because they went to the effort of porting it over, when a free alternative (emulation) exists.Īlso if you have to upgrade your PC to play PS1 games via and emulator you probably should upgrade it anyways. Sony isn't even trying to make money off their massive potential game library for the most part, short of handfeeding us ported versions which we pay too much for way after the game's high pricetag window has expired. Sony, for example, historically doesnt seem to be keen on keeping their old library of games available for years to come as older hardware becomes increasing impossible to find, so atleast these emulators will. Think of emulation as fan-assisted backwards compatibility, after the console's generation is over. Only 2 systems ever had the volume of odd experimental games where stuff was made because the devs just wanted to make it one was the DS the other was the PS1.
I find PS1 emulation tricky still never got my games working great, add in the problem that some of my games use wird peripherals and or the pocketstation.Īnd not everyone who emulates only uses iso images off the net, even now i still play & collect the living shit out of PS1, the library is amazing and full of so many fun & weird obscure games. Have a PS1 classic which is not too bad when hacked and least it allows my ripped games to be played in hdmi but still not perfect, dabbled in emulation in my pc but some games like gegege no kitaro have sound bugs i can't fix for the life of me you get that janky ass crackling glitchy sound. Wish there was a decent way to currently get PS1 working easy with modern displays well until i can get my hands on a PS1 digital HDMI upgrade kit that is as i own a framemeister and it's shit for PS1 as i play a lot of rhythm games and the resolution switching is garbage by the time the screen comes back the songs have already started.
